If there was a planet that existed that was similar to Earth, a planet that sustained life. What could our history here on earth teach them about how our human civilization has warred, triumphed, succeeded and failed? Albert Einstein once stated, “The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.” “Albert Einstein.” BrainyQuote.com. Xplore Inc, 2014. 2 January 2014. http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/a/alberteins143096.html
This wise man quoted these words because our planet watches evil occur but do not prevent or do anything about it. Two historical individuals that stood up against evil were Albert Einstein and Mahatma Gandhi. I, Deidra Drechsler, may not be a historical figure in the literal sense but I believe that I can achieve and prevent evils from occurring on this planet.
Einstein was an intelligent, curious man. Some of his accomplishments and discovery’s are theory about the relationship of mass and energy, ‘he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921 for discovering the light photons particles,’ “Albert Einstein: Genius Inventor and Scientist.” Ducksters. Technological Solutions, Inc. (TSI), Jan. 2014. Web. 2 Jan. 2014. <http://www.ducksters.com/biography/albert_einstein.php>.
But his greatest contribution to human civilization occurred,
“On August 2nd 1939, just before the beginning of World War II, Einstein wrote to then President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Einstein and several other scientists told Roosevelt of efforts in Nazi Germany to purify U-235 with which might in turn be used to build an atomic bomb. It was shortly thereafter that the United States Government began the serious undertaking known only then as the Manhattan Project,” “ Albert Einstein: Albert Einstein Biography. “ About.com, Inventors. Jan.2014. Web. 2 January 2014. <http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/bleinstein.htm>
Einstein work within the Manhattan Project catapulted The United States of America to a position of power with their development and creation of the atomic bomb. Had America not developed the atom bombs that forced the surrender of Japan, and ultimately ended the war, the result of the Second World War may have been detrimental to the existence of civilization. Albert Einstein once stated, “Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value,” “ Albert Einstein: “Albert Einstein Article”. The Ultimate Viral Launchpad. Adrian Frank. November 14,2013. Web. 5 January 2014. http://theultimatevirallaunchpad.wordpress.com/2013/11/14/strive-not-to-be-a-success-but-rather-to-be-of-value-albert-einstein/
This statement proves Einstein’s morals; he did not work to create atom bombs for fame, he did so to be of value to a greater cause in ending the war. Einstein contribution towards the new world would be beneficial because he would invent and be great value towards the planet.
Gandhi was a peaceful man, who did not want war or pain. Gandhi was a courageous man who fought for the South Africa rights. He did not fight with guns but instead he fought with words that were peaceful.
“Mohandas Gandhi is considered the father of the Indian independence movement. Gandhi spent 20 years in South Africa working to fight discrimination. It was there that he created his concept of Satyagraha, a non-violent way of protesting against injustices,” Mahatma Gandhi: “Gandhi- Biography of Mahatma Gandhi”. About.com. 20th Century History. Jennifer Rosenberg. Web. 5 January 2014. http://history1900s.about.com/od/people/a/gandhi.htm.
Gandhi’s act caused 100,000 people to go to jail but if it weren’t for him the South African people wouldn’t have had independence in 1947. Gandhi once stated, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” Mahatma Gandhi: “Mahatma Gandhi Quotes”. GoodReads. Web. 5 January 2014. http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/24499-be-the-change-that-you-wish-to-see-in-the
“Gandhi quotes these words because the world today is selfish and violent world. Gandhi stood up for the South African discrimination; he did not stand and watch evil happen, he fought it. Gandhi would help the new world, be more peaceful and would stop hatred towards others.
I assure you that I am an excellent candidate to send to the new planet. I’m a young sixteen-year-old, female who is an athlete and does not judge others. I treat everyone with respect and do not let anyone feel alone or forgotten. I would be beneficial toward the planet because I’m a driven teen, who wants to make changes for the greater good. I would not watch evil happen but instead fight for it, in a peaceful way. My contribution towards to the new planet would insure no poverty, starvation or discrimination. As a young teenager, my creativity and imagination is wild. Albert Einstein once stated,
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution.” Albert Einstein: “ 30 famous Albert Einstein Quotes”. 2 Spare. Published on 1/16/2008. Web. 5 January 2014. http://www.2spare.com/item_92759.aspx
Einstein quoted these words because imagination is limitless. Myself, Deidra Drechsler may not be a historical figure but if given this opportunity, I would teach the new planet about creativity, imagination, peace, love and living the day like its your last.
Einstein and Gandhi both changed the world. They did not watch evil happen, they stood up for humanity. I may not have saved millions of people lives but I’m still young and have a lot of potential. Einstein, Gandhi and I are the perfect candidates for the new planet. No evil shall occur without someone fighting for his or her rights. No one will be hungry or scared because with the new world, we will make sure every human being is treated equally. The new world will not judge others by the way they look or the colour of their skin. The new world will be peaceful and will not have wars between other countries. For your world to be successful, myself, Gandhi and Einstein are the candidates you should choose.
